Micro-lenticular lens for 3D display

Micro-Lenticular lens array(MLLA), Micro-lens array(MLA) films are one kind of important devices for 3D display, back light (BLU), light guide and optical security.

With the state of the art technologies, researchers at SVG have established the mold preparation, testament and UV roll-to-roll production line for manufacturing the MLLA and MLA films for the 3D display.

The features for the MLLA and MLA films, such as the focusing length, the aperture size of lens and the format of optical film, should be designed carefully and customized according to the 3D display requirements. For example, if the lenticular array film is to be applied as the cover film of the mobile screen for 3D display, the parameters, such as the pixel size, the thickness of cover glasses on the screen, should be measured precisely so that the focusing spot can be on the layer of LCD. The format of lenticular lens array or MLA films should be matched with LCD screen for better 3D effect.  The aperture size of lens, for an instance, should be 78um for iphone5, and thickness of MLLA films plus the thickness of cover glasses should be equal to focusing length.

1. Micro-Lenticular Lens Array Films (MLLAF) for 3D Display

SVG Optronics has been dedicated to developing cutting-edge and reliable

technology to manufacture micro-lenticular lens array film (MLLAF)  based optical components and micro-patterning technologies. While specializing in thermal reflow and lithography method, SVG’s patented breakthrough micro-area imprinting technology combines the benefit of UV nano-imprinting with the performance of automatic control and is configurable for three dimensional microstructures in a range of 60 um to 250 micrometer in large scale and array formats for MLLA.

SVG Optronics can prepare the MLLA mold with apertures of 60um-100um optical PET films based on the parameters of mobile LCD /OLED screenn. The critical problem is the curvature of lens should be large so that the thickness of film can be become thinner and the 3D effect will be excellent.

About 3D display technology, based on micro-lenticular lens array, the images appear three-dimensional to viewers without the need for special glasses. Thus, MLLA is an intriguing and very important optical component.

MLLA 3D imaging film

The 3D imaging film is composed of three parts: lenticular lens, color pixel layer and reflector film. When fabricating such device, the original image is obtained by the optical 3D display technique and computer-aided design. Owing to the pre-designed pattern and the one-time characteristic, it is almost impossible to counterfeit such 3D imaging which is color-bright and easy to identify for users visually.
